October has started off with a bang! Lower air and water temperatures have the Redfish, Snook, and other species moving into typical fall patterns. Redfish are. hanging out in sandy potholes on the flats and cruising the Mangroves in the Backcountry, and Snook are positioned in the Mangroves ready to ambush any passing baitfish. Seatrout fishing is rated good to excellent, with some reaching the 20-inch mark. Water clarity has improved dramatically, and sightfishing is rated good.

There have been many “Firsts” this month, including quite a few first fly-caught snook and redfish.

We have had a few juvenile tarpon showing in the backcountry and off some outside sandbars.

FLY PATTERNS
